Blind Special Forces soldier determined to serve

This guy is a real hero, not because he went into combat and lost his sight, but because he is not letting that stop him from reaching his goals.

Interesting
On November 4, 2008, give liberty a chance. This election doesn't have to be between the lesser of two evils. Americans need a choice, and Liberty needs a voice.

This is how I would like to start each day. Maybe in about eight years the way the economy is going. Can't complain though, I still have a job, my wife and I are healthy, we have health insurance as long as the government doesn't decide it is too expensive to cover veterans and retirees, and we can still make our house payment. I wonder how others can survive in this day and age, and then I remember that if I hadn't stayed in the Army until I could retire I would have still made it, just with less "stuff".

Gardening

http://www.latimes.com/features/home/la-hm-nodig12-2008jun12,0,55177.story

This is a great story about gardening in a limited space while conserving water. We should look at doing more of this with the rising cost of food and the unreliability of our inports.

Exercise

I walked/ran for 30 minutes today. I am trying to increase the running portion, but I don't want to increase it so fast that I cause an injury and can't even walk. I guess I have plenty of time. I would like to try running in the Sound To Narrows next year. I've lost ten pounds in the last five weeks, so Weightwatchers seems to be working.

This is a nude photo, my wife got me out of the shower to take it. Thankfully our backyard is secluded.

Fathers Day

Today is the anniversary of the last time I spoke to my father, thirty years ago, in 1978. He died four days latter. It was two days after we had buried his father, and at a time I was going through what turned out to be the end of my marriage. The thing I remember most from this sad time is him telling me that God would never give me more to carry than I could handle. Those words have gotten me through many tough, or at least what seemed like tough times.
