My Paradise On Earth
This is my paradise on earth. The place I have helped sculpt with my best friend, my wife. Though the lawn is packed with mole hills and the indentations their tunnels leave, the gardens are over grown with weeds, cedar and maple starts, and blackberry vines encroach from the property lines, it is a place of beauty.
From the deck it is possible to spy on a cornucopia of northwest birds; chickadees, grosbeaks, flickers, nuthatches, woodpeckers, an occasional hawk, towhees, and juncos. Squirrels, rats, and mice live in the surrounding brush and sneak in to feast on the birdseed that falls from the many feeders placed around the yard.
The wind chimes and flowers that are scattered around and post and hangers bring color and reflections to break up the emerald green landscape, and add music to the scene.
I have enjoyed this part of the earth for almost 30 year, and have no desire to ever leave even though maintenance gets harder every year. This truly is paradise on earth.
