Ulm Minster

Ulm Minster
Originally uploaded by Claude@Munich
I was stationed across the river from here in Neu Ulm 1978-1980. My family and I climbed to the top. My children were very young at the time. I started with Angie, the baby, in a carrier on my back. About a third of the way up, Kari who was four or five got tired so I had to carry her in my arms. When we got to the top, Crissie who was five or six got scared and would not move so I had to carry her and her sisters down the 768 steps. Only my son John, seven or eight, enjoyed the climb. I was exhausted by the time we got to the bottom.

Dear heavenly Father we come together today to give thanks to You for the bounty You have allowed to be spread before us, and for the blessing of allowing us to gather here in loving fellowship.
Thank You Lord for the many blessings You have given us and the blessing that are yet to come.
Thank You for these beautiful children and the great promise they hold for the future.
And Thank You Lord for these young parents and allow them to realize that the sacrifices they give now while raising and nurturing these children will come back as joy in thousands of ways over the years to come as they have brought joy to their parents.
And Thank You Lord for putting us in this beautiful land of freedom and opportunity where any man or woman can reach their own potential through work, thrift, and kindness to all.
Lord we ask Your blessing and protection for those of our family who cannot be here today.
Lord bless and protect our nation’s soldiers, sailors, and airmen that are separated from their families and in harm’s way on this national day of Thanksgiving.
And Lord we ask that You give our leaders the wisdom and strength to guide us through these troubled times that all people of the world may share the bounty of Your beautiful creation.
In Jesus Name,
Amen

This is what we believe is a runaway Thanksgiving Dinner that came through our yard on Tuesday. My wife called me at work in a panic because she couldn't get the fancy lens cap off the camera to take pictures of it. After she got the lens off she caught a few shots of the turkey this being the best. Have a happy Thanksgiving and spend sometime reflecting on what you have to be thankful for whether great or small, and try to help someone not as lucky as you.

"Alone - Veteran Support - IAVA"

| kjh9189 has shared a video with you on YouTube: The mental health consequences of combat threaten to overwhelm a new generation of veterans. There are 1.7 million men and women who have served, or are currently serving, in Iraq and Afghanistan. About 1 in 5 Iraq and Afghanistan veterans are suffering from a mental health injury, ranging from depression to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), as a result of their service. Less than 1% of the U.S. population has served or is serving in the current conflicts and when they return home, their sense of isolation is often magnified. This campaigns long-term objective is to decrease the depression and PTSD-related outcomes among returning Vets by taking a two-pronged approach encouraging Veterans to join other Veterans at the first ever online community exclusive to OIF/OEF Vets, and separately, to empower their Friends and Family by helping them learn how to start constructive conversations. The challenges facing returning vets are myriad but with support from other Veterans, family, and friends the issues can be effectively dealt with. | |
